Tara Marie Thérèse Sheridan received her undergraduate degree in English Literature, magna cum laude from UCLA in 1994. After graduation she accompanied her mother, who is also a physician, on a mission trip to East Africa, where she found her true passion for medicine. After receiving her medical doctorate from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2002, she attended Yale University, where she completed an internal medicine internship and an anesthesiology residency in 2006.
A decorated Veteran with a very distinguished naval career, Dr. Sheridan served ten years on active duty as a Medical Corps Officer, attaining the rank of Commander. She served as the Anesthesiology Assistant Residency Program Director at Naval Medical Center San Diego, and as an Assistant Professor for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. While serving as Assistant Director, Dr. Sheridan was hand-selected for an Interventional Chronic Pain Fellowship, which she completed in 2013. She has devoted a majority of her practice to providing chronic pain management to the returning combat veterans after receiving battlefield injuries, a critical component to their care, allowing many to return to active duty.
Noted for her accomplishments while on active duty, Dr. Sheridan was awarded with three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, a Master Clinician award, which was presented at the Hospital Command level, and two Anesthesia Departmental “Teacher of the Year” awards. As a Department of Defense subject matter expert in pain medicine, she presented at numerous national conferences, and authored several book chapters and peer reviewed journal articles. Dr. Sheridan is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Sheridan’s interests include history, literature, travel, and outdoor activities (skiing, horseback riding). She enjoys spending quality time with her husband, two young sons, extended family and friends. Dedicated to excellence, Dr. Sheridan is thrilled to join the United Family of Medical Doctors. A visionary for the United Pain Center, she is fully devoted to principles of service, professional integrity, and partnership. Dr. Sheridan brings to the practice a unique set of complex skills, allowing her to offer our patients a multitude of options for the comprehensive treatment of their chronic pain conditions. These treatments include medication management, infusion therapies, minimally invasive interventional procedures and pharmacogenetics. A leader in her field, Dr. Sheridan is committed to the delivery of safe, innovative and state-of-the-art pain management of the highest quality, with the goal of benefiting the healthcare communities of Temecula Valley.
